The inimitable Jo Sercombe led 20 students through this fabulous ten-week course which followed on from 'I luv 50s and 60s' last Autumn and preceded 'I luv 90s and 00s' after Easter 2010. The students learnt many well-known songs from the 1970s and 1980s including those by Queen, ABBA and Billy Joel. They also explored the musical and social context of the songs, which they learnt in three-part harmony! The setting was the beautiful main hall at St Monica Trust.
On the final class, the class presented an informal concert at which friends and family were treated to wonderful performances of all the music studied over the course.
Thanks go to Jo for all her hard work, and also to Rob who accompanied the final concert. And of course, congratulations to all the students on their achievements!
"Jo is just such a wonderful and inspiring teacher - she brings the best out of everyone."
"I loved it, many thanks!"
